To say this was an interesting day would be to say the least. It started with a 7:20am departure from our hotel to Heathrow. The check in line at Heathrow was civilized (it later turned uncivilized) and we got checked in, our luggage was under the weight limit so no added fees and we got our bulkhead seats. We then waited for our wheelchair. After getting our wheelchair we headed for security where both of our carry-ons set off the scanners. After a through search removing everything from the first case it was determined a package of rice was looking like liquid to the scanner and we were allowed to pass. We would have put the rice in the checked baggage but feared it would go over the allowed weight limit. Our flight left over an hour and a half late making our connecting in O'Hare iffy. Once again wheelchair access came in handy and we got through immigration quickly. We then found out we would have to go back through security. Marlene had purchased some perfume (3.5 ozs) in Heathrow and 3 ozs was the security limit. We quickly repacked moving the perfume and rice (didn't want another one of those episodes with our new time constraints) into the checked baggage (they were not going to reweigh the bags so weight over limit was no longer an issue). In the process I also placed the boarding passes into the luggage and so we had to get those reissued. We made our connection to Richmond just in time and with wheelchair access in Richmond caught Groome home arriving at home around 7:00pm. In spite of the weather (mostly cold and damp) and my feet problems it was a very good trip.
