The parade of trains continued today along I40 east.
(5858 miles driven)
What we thought would be a day of traveling to get into position for the next day's activities turn up some pleasant surprises. We left Kingman at 7:41am and continued east on I40. At Winslow, AZ we got off and drove through town to see the corner mentioned in the Eagles song "Take It Easy". While doing this we discovered the hotel La Posada. A hotel built by the Santa Fe railroad, almost fully restored and right next to the division point yard on the busy BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) mainline. After lunch there we got back on I40 east to US191 north and on to Canyon De Chelly. Since we were running a little early and tomorrow was looking like another long day we decided to view the south ridge. This has to be one of the most beautiful canyons! We finally stop for the night at 7:01pm in Chinle, AZ. Tomorrow we will tour the north ridge of Canyon De Chelly and head for the Four Corners before stopping in Chama, NM.
