2008 Cross Country Car Trip - Monday September 22nd

A very early and long day! Today we departed San Antonio at 6:10 am and headed west on I10 to Fort Stockton where we took US285 north to Pecos. In Pecos we had lunch at a local restaurant and then continued north on US285 to Malaga, NM where we took NM720 east (it was listed as NM396 on the map) to US62/180 south and Carlsbad Caverns. After touring the cave we decided to not wait for the bats and headed west on US62/180 stopping in El Paso for the night at 5:10 pm. We wrapped up the day with an excellent dinner at the Cattleman's Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch in Fabens, TX! This was the first good dinner on this trip. Tomorrow will be a later and shorter day as we head into Arizona.

I10 west about three hours west of San Antonio. This is the way an interstate should look! No traffic.
