This was our hotel in Malta, MT. It not only was a hotel but also a restaurant, a snack bar, a lounge and a liquor store. It turned out to be the best hotel in town. Our selection of it was pure chance.
(3020 miles driven) Today we got under way at 9:15am. After stopping at the local do-it-yourself car wash to get the bugs that committed suicide off, we stopped at the Malta dinosaur museum. Then we headed for Essex, MT and the Izaak Walton Inn arriving there at 4:15pm. The terrain changed abruptly from plains to mountains when we crossed the Cut Hill area. The Izaak Walton Inn is an old Great Northern Railway built Inn that is right beside the BNSF mainline going to Seattle and Portland and on the border of Glacier Park. About fifty trains a day pass by this hotel. The hotel has no TVs, no telephones, no cell coverage and no air conditioning, but who cares, it has fifty trains a day. Well maybe Marlene. It was warm when we arrived, but has cooled considerably since the sun has set. In fact there is a wood fire in the fire place in the lounge.
