(2729 miles driven) After a night of listening to the trains go through town, but out of sight of my hotel room, we got underway at 8:15am heading for the north unit of the Teddy Roosevelt Park. After touring that park we started looking for gas, which ran from $3.14 to $3.40. It seems North Dakota is having a fuel shortage and paying about thirty cents more that the surronding states for fuel. After getting lunch and gas in Williston, ND we headed for Montana. Using advice we got from two different sources concerning Indian Reservation towns to avoid, we stopped at 5:50pm in Malta, MT. This is a bump in the road but it at least has a motel and these are few and far between on route 2. We ate in the hotel restaurant and it was really good.
