2006 Cross Country Car Trip - Friday September 15th

(4438 miles driven) This update is one day late since we did not have any internet access last night. This is only the second time we have not had internet access. The first was at the Super 8 in Indianan. Today we took a ride on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad pulled by a 1910 Heisler steam loco. But that was only after a man who Marlene made a purchase from earlier offered to wash our car and would not take anything for it. During the train ride Marlene rode in the caboose and I rode in the engine cab. During the 1/2 hour layover on the train ride Marlene and I touched the Pacific Ocean. After the train ride we headed south down the Oregon Coast highway 101. We had a great dinner during which Marlene phoned home. We are now in some motel in the middle of nowhere. And since we arrived here after dark (and yes we did see some elk on the side of the road) we don't even know how it looks from the outside. Tomorrow we will be visiting Crater Lake and then head for the Redwoods.
